​​Riskified Hosts First Merchant Volunteering Event in Tokyo

Employees and merchants come together to support a local school for students with disabilities

Riskified recently held its first volunteering activity in Japan that included participation from Riskified employees and merchant partners. The event took place at Aiiku Gakuen, a school in Hiroo, Tokyo, dedicated to supporting children and students with disabilities through education, care, and inclusion. Organized in partnership with long-standing NGO partner Hands On Tokyo, the initiative was part of the Riskified Cares program, which provides employees and merchant partners with opportunities to contribute to local communities.

Volunteers spent the afternoon providing hands-on support to the school. Activities included cleaning classrooms, organizing learning materials, tidying shared spaces, and performing light maintenance such as polishing surfaces and dusting shelves. Under the guidance of Hands On Tokyo, participants rotated through different areas of the school to ensure meaningful contributions across classrooms, hallways, and communal spaces.

This initiative marked the first time Riskified employees and merchant partners worked together on a community activity in Japan. Beyond the practical work, it created a shared experience that encouraged connection and engagement outside of traditional business interactions, allowing participants to collaborate on a tangible outcome while building stronger relationships.

The Tokyo volunteering day reflects Riskified’s broader approach to community engagement. Through Riskified Cares, employees and merchant partners have the opportunity to support local organizations in ways that reflect shared values such as empathy, collaboration, and care. This first merchant-inclusive event provides a model for future initiatives, showing how practical contributions can be paired with meaningful engagement to benefit both the community and Riskified’s network.
